The Foreign Service Institute (FOSIM) has awarded certificates to the participants of the training on Diplomacy and Protocol, held from August 13 to 24, conducted for the staff of the President's Office, as part of its Stakeholder Awareness Programmes.
Certificates were awarded to 26 participants who completed the training programme by Foreign Secretary, Ahmed Sareer. Through a mix of lectures, discussions and tutorial exercises, the participants were introduced the fundamentals of diplomacy, diplomatic protocol and etiquette.
Speaking at the event, Foreign Secretary Sareer stated that the training programme introduced the participants to the fundamentals of diplomatic practice, functions, actors and the changing dynamics of diplomacy and international relations in the 21st century. The Foreign Secretary also noted that the programme provided insights to the Maldives foreign policy, diplomatic communications, public diplomacy and international engagements.
Minister of State at the President's Office, Mohamed Naseer, who attended the closing ceremony congratulated the participants upon the successful completion of the training and thanked the Institute for organizing the training programme. State Minister Naseer stated that the training course has helped develop the capacity of the participants and requested them to make best use of the knowledge and skills acquired from the programme. The State Minister also highlighted the importance of conducting similar programmes for other government institutions with a greater focus on enhancing the capacity of youth.
The FOSIM stakeholder awareness series is aimed at strengthening collaboration and ensuring better coordination with other government institutions. Since the establishment of FOSIM on January 16, 2014, the institution has conducted stakeholder awareness sessions on diplomacy, foreign policy, diplomatic protocol and etiquette training.
