Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital has revealed that, sheets have been laid on all of the 25 storeys of the National Diagnostic Centre building. Currently, roofing work is underway.
The Project to develop Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital's 25 storey building, which will house the National Diagnostic Centre will, is expected to revolutionize the health sector of the country, by adding numerous new services to the country and allowing the standard of health services to advance like never before. The centre will provide all outpatient consultation services, in addition to all laboratory and scanning services required by patients. The centre will introduce premium health services.
The new building, proposed to be developed to modern standards, will be designed to adapt to the local environment. Work on developing the National Diagnostic Centre (NDC) is progressing prior to the scheduled deadlines, said IGMH's Director Public Relations and Media, Ahmed Mausoom. He said 95% of the concrete work of the building has been completed, adding that interior work has also begun in many levels of the building. Mausoom also said that electrical wiring, installation of firehose reel and wall partitions are currently underway. He added that work is also ongoing on installing air conditioners and medical gas in the building.
According to the PR Director, work to set up the glass panels on the exterior of the building will begin within two months. IGMH is currently working to procure machinery, equipment and furniture required for the NDC building. Finance Ministry, President's Office and IGMH are now deliberating on a budget for the procurement of machinery, equipment and furniture required for the centre to come into operation.
The $140 million project is commissioned to Singapore's Shenhua Construction. The establishment, which is expected to be completed by 2018, will have the capacity to serve 100,000 people.
