The Embassy of Bangladesh in Maldives has observed the National Mourning Day marking 42nd anniversary of the assassination of Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. To pay homage to the father of the nation, the embassy in Maldives started the day with lowering of the national flag to half-mast at the mission and the Bangladesh house in Male'.
Speaking at the function held this morning, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Maldives, Rear Admiral Akhtar Habib spoke about the importance of marking the day. The Ambassador highlighted a day long programme is scheduled to pay tribute to the Father of the nation.
A documentary on the history of the day was shown to the attendees of the function. A special function is also planned to take place tonight at the Embassy. At the ceremony, the Ambassador of India, Akilesh Mishra and Ambassador of Pakistan, Syed Khawar Shah signed on the condolence book.
