President Yameen conveys Independence Day greetings to Pakistan

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has conveyed greetings, in separate messages, to President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on the occasion of the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan.

In his message to President Mamnoon Hussain, President Yameen said it gives him great pleasure to convey warm greetings and sincere good wishes to the Pakistani President, the Government and the brotherly people of Pakistan on the joyous occasion of the Independence Day of Pakistan. He also expressed hope for further consolidation of the warm and fraternal relations that exist between the two countries.

President Yameen ended his message by wishing for further progress and prosperity of the people of Pakistan.

Various activities have been planned by the Pakistani Embassy in Maldives to celebrate the occasion. In the Pakistan Embassy of Maldives in Male' City, the Pakistani Independence Day celebration commenced with a flag hoisting ceremony which was attended by Pakistani residents. The flag was hoisted by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Maldives, Syed Khawar Ali Shah.

Addressing the ceremony, the Ambassador greeted and congratulated the fellow Pakistanis for successfully remaining intact to its independence for 70 years. Ambassador Syed Khawar Shah delivered a message from the Prime Minister of Pakistan. In his message, the Pakistani Prime Minister highlighted the sacrifices made by the heroic soldiers back when Pakistan was struggling for independence. He noted the importance of protecting the peace and sovereignty of the nation.

In an exclusive interview with PSM News the Ambassador of Pakistan to Maldives, Syed Khawar Ali Shah, reiterated the commitment of Pakistan being a model country to the world and urged all the Pakistanis living in Maldives to represent themselves as individual ambassadors of Pakistan as each individuals action would accounted to the nation.

Additional activities are planned by the Embassy to celebrate the independence day of Pakistan in Maldives, the Ambassador said. These activities would see the participation of Pakistan-Maldives Friendship Association, according to the Ambassador.

Pakistan's Independence Day, which is annually held on August 14, celebrates the country's independence from the British rule in the year 1947. The occasion is celebrated via vibrant celebration activities in Pakistan.
