11 injured in Hulhumale' being treated at hospitals

Aasandha Company Limited stated that 11 people injured in a fire that occurred last night at a building in Hulhumale' are still being treated in hospitals.

Two people are being treated at Hulhumale' hospital, while another 9 were transferred to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), According to the national health insurance company of Maldives. Aasandha said 31 persons injured in the incident were treated from the hospital. The injured includes 29 expatriates and 2 Maldivians.

The fire occurred in a go-down of Amin Construction Private Limited in the industrial zone of Hulhumale'. Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) cites that the fire was controlled with the assistance of the fire and rescue services from Velana International Airport (VIA). MNDF added that reason of the fire is yet unknown and that they are investigating the matter further.
