President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom sends sympathies to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, following the recent flooding in India.
The President expressed that it was with profound sadness that he learnt about the widespread flooding in the areas of Gujarath, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Odisha and Bihar, causing the loss of lives, destruction to crops, plantations, livestock, and extensive damage to homes and infrastructure. In his message, President Yameen extended the deepest sympathies to the Prime Minister, the Government and people of India on behalf of the Government and the people of Maldives. President Yameen also conveyed his sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families and sent assurances of his highest consideration.

Furthermore, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim sent a message to the Minister of External Affairs of India, Sushma Swaraj conveying sympathy to the Government and people of India. The Foreign Minister message read that that he was shocked and deeply saddened to hear the news and extended his deepest sympathies to Minister Sushma Swaraj along with the Government and the people of India, during this time of national crisis. He also conveyed the sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.
