Government signed contracts for the construction of sewerage facilities in the islands of Himmafushi in Kaafu atoll, Thulusdhoo in Kaafu atoll and Nolhivaranfaru in Haa Dhaalu atoll. The contract was awarded to Sri Lankan company, Sierra Construction Private Limited.
Minister of Environment and Energy, Honorable Thoriq Ibrahim signed the contract on behalf of the government while the Project Director, J.A.C Prabash signed the contract on behalf of Sierra Construction Private Limited. The total cost of this project is One Hundred and thirty-five million, rufiyaa and is funded by Islamic Development Bank (IDB). This project is expected to be completed within 468 days.
The scope of this project includes construction of 4 pump stations, laying of sewer mains, provision of house connections, construction of wastewater treatment plant and construction of sea outfall pipeline.
