Health Minister concludes a 3 day official visit to Addu City

Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim has concluded a three-day official visit to Addu City.

Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim visited hospitals and health related facilities and met with officials during his three day official visit to Addu City. The health care facilities he visited include Hithadhoo Regional Hospital, Maradhoo Health Centre, Feydhoo Health Centre, Hulhumeedhoo Health Centre and some private clinics and the Dhamanaveshi clinic in Maradhoo-Feydhoo Island. Minister Nazim met with staff and management of these facilities and inquired about difficulties faced by them in providing health care for residents.

During his visit to Addu City, Minister Nazim also visited and observed the progress of the project to transform Addu City Convention Centre to a tertiary hospital. The convention centre is to be developed to a tertiary health facility, as part of the government's pledge under which tertiary health facilities are to be established in north and south of the country. The Addu City tertiary hospital project is estimated to cost USD 21 million. Health Minister expressed confidence the project will be completed prior to scheduled deadline, the minister said while speaking with PSM News after visiting Addu Convention Centre site, where the tertiary health facility is being developed. He noted that the hospital would be of a major convenience for residents of the region, citing that it would also create many jobs. He said that the tertiary health facility would enable Addu citizens to obtain previously unavailable health care services.

During his three day visit to Addu City, the Minister also attended the opening ceremony of the 3rd round of "wound care management training" programme.
