Pakistan to begin negotiations on opening credit line to Maldives

Pakistan government approved to begin negotiations on drafting a memorandum of understanding for opening of a Defence Credit Line worth US$10 million for Maldives. Business Recorder website reported that the decision was made during a meeting of the Federal Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, which saw approval given to a broad-based agenda including cooperation with other countries in air services, climate change, defence and financial intelligence.

The meeting saw approval given to start negotiations and approval for signing of MoU to develop relations in tourism between Pakistan and Maldives as well, Business Recorder reported. Another approval was given for signing of MoU by Civil Service Commission of Maldives with National School of Public Policy in Pakistan. The Cabinet of Pakistan also approved commencement of negotiation of MoU between the Foreign Services Academy (FSA) of Pakistan and the Foreign Service Institute (FOSIM) of Maldives.

Various other approvals were given during the Pakistani federal cabinet meeting on initiating negotiations to draft MoUs with different countries and organization on broad range of issues.
