Government officially hands over Kulhudhuffushi Hospital to NIMS

The Maldivian Government has officially awarded the development of the regional hospital in Kulhudhuffushi Island of Haa Dhaalu Atoll to a 150 bed multispecialty tertiary hospital to Noorul Islam International Private Limited of India, which also operates NIMS Hospital, famous among many Maldivians.

The Maldivian Government handed over the Kulhudhuffushi Hospital to Noorul Islam International Private Limited for 50 years. The hospital was officially handed over by the Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim at a special ceremony held at Kudhuffushi Island.

Addressing the function, the Minister of Health reiterated the efforts of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to improve the health sector of the country and noted that upgrading the Kulhudhuffushi hospital to a tertiary facility is a pledge of the administration.

At the function, Noorul Islam International Private Limited announced that five of their doctors would treat patients in Kulhudhuffushi Hospital. The tertiary hospital in Kulhudhuffushi will offer services such as MRI and CT scanning, and major operations including joint replacement and heart surgeries, according to Noorul Islam International Private Limited.

Managing Director of NIMS Medicity under the Noorul Islam Private International Limited, Faisal Khan said the aim is to make the hospital the best in the region within the next two years.
