Abdulla Areef becomes the new president of JSC

Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Areef replaced the current President of the Judicial Service Commission of Maldives (JSC) Ali Hameed Mohamed. Ali Hameed was the President of JSC as the member elected for the commission from the judges of the Supreme Court of Maldives.  

As per the regulations set by the Supreme Court of Maldives the length of the term of a JSC member is 5 years, but the member elected from the Supreme Court for this commission is shorter and is set as a 2 years term. The newly elected president of JSC has taken his vows infront of President Yameen Abdul Gayoom, during a ceremony held at President's Office.
