Ministry of Environment and Energy signs a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with Maldives National Universiry (MNU) for the Assessment of Finance Sector in consideration to energy efficient appliances and building design in the Maldives.Minister of Environment and Energy signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry while the Chancellor of MNU, Dr. Mohamed Latheef signed the contract on behalf of the university.According to the Ministry of Environment and Energy the main objective of this assessment is to introduce energy efficient appliances in consideration to building design in the Maldives and to provide technical and financial support.Speaking after the signing ceremony, Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim highlighted the importance of such a study, as most harmful gases are released to the environment from construction of buildings and other infrastructure.The Chancellor of MNU, Dr. Mohamed Latheef assured that the university will provide full support in the study and assured their commitment towards the development of the nation. The assessment is carried out under Strengthening Low Carbon Energy Island Strategies Project (LCEI).
