Maldives explores Saudi Arabia for higher education opportunities

Ambassador of Maldives to Saudi Arabia, Abdulla Hameed has revealed that discussions are underway to provide more Maldivian students the opportunity to study in Saudi Arabia, which is a famous destination among Maldivian students who pursue Islamic education.

In an exclusive interview with PSM News, Ambassador Abdulla Hameedsaid, talks have commenced with Islamic and Arabic institutions of Saudi Arabiato provide education in both English and Arabic medium. Mecca and Medina aretwo states that host many Maldivian students.

The Ambassador however assured that if the latest discussions aresuccessful, Maldivians would get opportunity to study in other cities such asRiyadh. The ambassador also emphasized that the quality of education at theseuniversities has been well received throughout the world. He added that theembassy is in talks to speed up the process of creating such opportunities.

Saudi Arabia had earlier announced that they would provide morethan 300 scholarships and would allow easy access to Maldivian scholars.

Currently more than 200 students from Maldives are studying in Saudi Arabia.
