Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim has met the Minister of Tourism of Indonesia, Arief Yahya.
In the meeting, both minister discussed possible means to develop closer cooperation in the tourism sector where each country had its unique experience over the course of its tourism sector development. Indonesia has been leading in promoting Halal and family tourism. Both ministers briefed on their respective tourism sector development and efforts made for improvements and identified the need for a good connectivity to improve tourism and tourism related trade.
Minister Asim noted that currently a large number of Indonesians contribute to the Maldivian Economy; most of whom work in Tourism sector. Minister Asim also hoped that following such initiatives frequent exchange of visits could happen and bring the people closer together.
Foreign Minister Asim is currently on a three day official visit to Indonesia.
