Maldives and Australia deliver a joint statement on universality

Maldives and Australia have delivered a joint statement on universality to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

The statement was delivered on behalf of 45 countries and Friends of Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The statement highlighted that the participation of all State Members of the United Nation work in Human Rights Council has aspired them to the establishment of the Voluntary Fund for Technical Cooperation and Assistance for Least Developed Countries (LDC) and SIDS. The fund has supported 77 delegates including 44 women and 33 men in the five years of service of the council. 

Furthermore, the statement said that by the end of the year the voluntary fund would have supported 57 member states which would include 25 for Least Developed Countries and 24 Small Island Developing States.

The council which is co-chaired by Maldives and Australia has 45 cross regional group of countries who has agreed on that none of the nations should be left behind, that the vulnerable should be protected and every nation should have a voice in global governance institutions which guides global progress.
