Economic Ministry to open a Maldivian Office in Yunnan Province

Efforts are underway to open a Maldivian office in China’s Yunnan Province, according to Ministry of Economic Development.

The Ministry said that deliberations are ongoing to decide whether the office will be a Maldivian trade or consulate office. Economic Ministry cited importance of establishing a trade office in Yunnan Province, noting that a large number of vegetables and fruits are imported to Maldives from the province.

Relevant discussion on opening a trade office during their recent visit to Kunming of Yunnan, said Adam Thaufeeq, Deputy Minister at the Economic Ministry. There are also a number of local students in Yunnan Province.
