Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has said that Kulhudhufushi Regional Hospital would continue to provide Aasanda Healthcare Service even after being upgraded to a tertiary hospital.
The Health Minister made the statement addressing the signing ceremony to handover the up-gradation and management of Kulhudhufushi Regional Hospital to Indian company, Noorul Islam International Private Limited (NII). The handover agreement was signed by Health Minister Nazim and the Managing Director of NII Faizal Khan.
The Minister highlighted that, the agreement would only bring about a change in management. He added that under the agreement, the services provided from the hospital after up-gradation, would be more diverse.
In an exclusive interview with PSM News, the Managing Director of NII said that they treat a lot of Maldivian patients at their healthcare centers in India, and that the hospital in Kulhudhufushi would provide an opportunity to deliver all the services from the health centres faster and more efficiently. He highlighted that the new tertiary hospital to be developed would have experienced and permanent doctors stationed straight from NII centers.
