Maldives extends condolences to UK, following Grenfell Tower fire

The Government of the Maldives has extended condolences to the United Kingdom, following the fire at Grenfell Tower.

A tweet posted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Asim stated that government of the Maldives is deeply saddened by the Grenfell Tower fire incident causing tragic loss of life and injury. The Minister also sent his condolences to all the victims and members of their families.

Fire engulfed a high-rise block of apartments in central London on Wednesday, killing at least 12 people and injuring 74, while another 78 people were taken to the hospital and 18 of them are reportedly in critical condition. Some 500 people were said to live in the 120-unit building, according to news reports.

The causes of the fire, one of the biggest in London in memory, were not immediately known.
