Speaking at the function held to sign the MoU Shoko Noda stated that the MOU aims to promote the exchange of knowledge through internships and special course initiatives, while Mariyam Shahuneeza stated that collaboration will work on formulating research-based policy recommendations on matters related to governance, rule of law, human rights protection and mitigation of violent conflicts in the context of Islam.
It is hoped that the MoU will facilitate the establishment of communities of practice and academic research as future reference points for UNDP's work. The programme focuses on the students studying at Imam Ship and Local Governance Courses. This is the first ever such program of UNDP and IUM.
