PSM signs rights agreements with international TV channel brands

Public Service Media (PSM) has signed rights agreements with international television channel brands.

As part of the effort of PSM to provide quality and reliable cable TV service, the Managing Director of PSM Ibrahim Khaleel travelled to Mumbai, Doha and Singapore and signed several rights agreements with international television channel brands. In Singapore, the Managing Director signed a rights agreement with the popular MediaCorp Company. PSM and MediaCorp also discussed and agreed to produce TV shows, develop human resources of both companies and the introduction of a foreign exchange programme for the employees to gain experience in the field.

In his visit to Singapore, Khaleel also signed a rights agreement with Multi-channel Asia of Singapore. In addition to this, he also signed rights agreements with 25 channels operated in China. During his visit to India, Khaleel acquired the rights of 9 channels.

Furthermore, PSM also signed rebroadcasting agreements with other Indian channels and also acquired the rights of internationally famous Fashion TV channel. In Doha, Khaleel signed rights and rebroadcasting agreements with Dubai Sports, a channel for sports news around the country.

PSM was formed as a Public Service Company under the Public Service Media Act (9/2015) on 28th April 2015. PSM is the official State Media in the Maldives.

The Public Service Media Act obligates PSM to provide TV, Radio, Online and Print Media services to the general public; along with creating media personnel. PSM's basic responsibility is to create awareness among the public in providing news and infotainment.

Leading the work to obtain Re-Broadcasting Rights of famous TV Channels among Maldivians, PSM has achieved huge accomplishments within a short period of time.
