Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced that four new airlines will begin operating flights to Maldives, before the end of the year.
Speaking with PSM News, the Managing Director of MACL Adil Moosa said that the airlines that are scheduled to begin operations to Maldives before the end of the year include two European airlines and two airlines from Asia. Air Italia and Air France from Europe are scheduled to begin operations in October, according to Adil Moosa.
Adil also said that discussions are underway with airlines already operating to Maldives, to increase the number of flights operated to Maldives. He said that, the four new airlines operating to the country is expected to boost tourism significantly.
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan Airlines has announced that the airline would begin direct flights to Melbourne, Australia. As Sri Lankan airlines operates three to four flights daily between Maldives and Sri Lanka, this would be a great convenience for tourists from both countries.
Australia is a country that hosts a number of Maldivian students and professionals. Sri Lankan Airlines is to begin flights to Melbourne, on the 29th of October.
