Zakat al Fitr payments would be accepted from 1030hrs in the morning till 1300hrs in the afternoon, according to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. The deadline for paying Zakat al Fitr is the 29th day of Ramadan. This year, Zakat payments can be made in four ways.
In addition to making Zakat payments at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, it can be paid through Bank of Maldives debit cards, Ooredoo SMS service and through the Allied Insurance Ayadi Takaful Office.
For residents in Male' the rates of Zakat range from MVR 16 to 80. In other areas the Zakat rate would be the same rate at which rice is sold in the respective area.
