Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has signed an agreement with Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited (MHCL) to give medical support for pilgrims. At the function held at IGMH, the agreement was signed by Managing Director of MHCL Yaameen Idrees and Medical Service Director of IGMH Dr. Ali Nazim.
The Managing Director of MHCL said that this is a major step forward by the government in the efforts to ease the pilgrim's trips. Speaking at the function, Medical Service Director of IGMH stated that IGMH is to conduct an inclusive medical screening ahead of their flights to Mecca, Saudi Arabia which will keep them familiar of the medical state of the pilgrims.
Following the agreement, IGMH is to include only local medical workers on the trips. Under this agreement, IGMH will monitor all the medical concerns of MHCL and a team of nurses and doctors would accompany the pilgrims on every pilgrimage, operated by the Corporation.
The state operated MHCL was granted 50 percent of the 1,000-pilgrim quota assigned to Maldives.
