Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said that India is providing naval assistance to find missing landing craft.
Indian Navy Ship Kirch and an Indian Navy search and rescue aircraft are assisting the search of the missing landing craft along with MNDF Coast Guard ship, Huravee.
MNDF Information Officer Captain Ibrahim Azim said the search will continue for the landing craft with all available resources and with the help of Sri Lanka and India. Captain Azim added that a huge area would be searched with the assistance of Mumbai Maritime Coordination Centre. He said that although the bad weather obstructs the visibility, a TMA seaplane is being used in the search.
MNDF has said that oil spillage and debris were found 50 nautical miles from Isdhoomuli of Laamu Atoll. It was reported that 6 people were on board when the landing craft went missing.
