President Departs on an Official Visit to Saudi Arabia

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has this afternoon, departed on an official visit to Saudi Arabia, on an invitation by the King of Saudi Arabia, Salmaan Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud to participate in the Arab Islamic American Summit, scheduled to be held in Riyadh on 21st May 2017.

The aim of the summit is to establish an Arab Islamic-American Alliance in the fight against terrorism. The attendees of this summit include Arab and Islamic Leaders, and the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

The President is accompanied on this trip by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim, Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. Mohamed Shainee and Minister of State at the President’s Office, Mohamed Naseer.

President Yameen is set to address at the summit on the evening of 21st May 2017, according to the President’s Office.
