Action to be taken against unregistered waste disposal businesses

Ministry of Environment and Energy has announced that starting July 2017, action would be taken against those who dispose waste in violation of waste management regulations in Male' City.

New waste management regulations have been put in place in Male' City, in order to make the city clean. Addressing a press conference held at the Ministry on Thursday, Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim said that from July 2017, action will be taken against expatriates who run waste disposal businesses, without being registered. Under a special program conducted by WAMCO, waste collection services will be provided for households in Hulhumale' and Male' City, the minister noted.
