President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has called on opposition leaders to show their love for the nation by returning to the country rather than residing abroad.
Speaking at a ruling coalition meeting held Monday night, the President directed some harsh criticism towards opposition leaders at a meeting held by the ruling coalition, Monday night. He asked if the same leaders who talked about putting the 'nation first' are still advocating the same. He added that everyone is answerable in front of the law, if any accusations are levelled against that person.
The President also reiterated the claim that the current administration would not meddle with the judiciary and called on the opposition to accept that every citizen is subject to the rule of law. He also said that one cannot criticize the country from afar and noted that even the members of the opposition oppose each other.
