Office complex will divert business presence to Hulhumale’: HDC

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has said that the project to construct a 25-storey office complex in Hulhumale' is proceeding at a fast pace. This project is now in the implementation stage, with a slight change to the initial plan to develop the building in Male'. It is being developed in Hulhumale', as part of Phase II of Hulhumale' Development Project.

The Managing Director of HDC Mohamed Saiman said that piling tests and labor quarters have been completed and that construction equipment has also been taken to the site. The target is to complete the project by 2018. Saiman said that HDC is working closely with contractors to ensure that the target is met.

Right now, Hulhumale' does not have any office space other than the HDC building. Saiman expressed confidence that building such a huge office building in Hulhumale' would deflect government and private offices from Male' to Hulhumale'. He said that moreover, it would ensure not only government presence, but also the presence of both local and international, private sector presence in Hulhumale'.

Saiman added that the design of the office complex underwent major changes due to the change in the building site. He said that now, the complex has been re-designed by incorporating features seen in international multiplex office towers. The office complex was designed by Malaysian Company ZR Properties.

The office complex, worth over USD 123 million, is expected to be of great convenience to people who reside in Hulhumale'.
