Bank of Maldives (BML) has signed an agreement with five leading higher education institutions to collaborate in a program to provide students with practical knowledge of the workplace.
The program, "BML Prospect - Connecting Talent with Opportunity", was launched at a ceremony held at the Bank on Wednesday afternoon. Under the agreement, BML will provide work experience to final year students to help prepare them for the job market, while high-performing students interested in a career in Banking will be considered for job opportunities at the Bank. BML will also make contributions to course modules and career guidance programs in the five colleges.
The institutions participating are Maldives National University (MNU), Avid College, Clique College, MAPS College and Villa College. Representatives from each of these institutions participated in the ceremony.
The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of BML, Andrew Healy said that they were delighted to enter this partnership with the country's leading higher education institutions. Healey said that they want to play their part in nurturing talented students and 'BML Prospect' will provide valuable experience to help ensure they are ready for the job market when they graduate.
Speaking after signing the agreement, Deputy Vice Chancellor of MNU Aishath Shaheen said that BML's initiative will be very beneficial for graduates who joins the employment sector. Officials from other education institutes also expressed similar sentiments, noting that this is a huge opportunity for students.
