PSM unveils pipeline project to upgrade 'Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu'

The Managing Director of Public Service Media (PSM) Ibrahim Khaleel unveils pipeline project to upgrade the services provided by PSM's radio station 'Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu'. The Managing Director made the announcement at the special ceremony held at the President's Office to launch PSM News television channel.

Speaking on the first talk show that was aired on PSM News, Ibrahim Khaleel said that the project to upgrade the services provided by PSM's radio station 'Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu' is being carried out with assistance from the government of Maldives and the government of Japan. Khaleel said that final preparations are now underway to begin the practical phase of the project. He expressed confidence that the project would be officially launched on the anniversary of 'Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu' this year.

Speaking on the talk show, the Chairman of PSM Ibrahim Umar Manik said that it has always been a wish of Maldivian citizens for the station's radio signal to reach the whole country. Ibrahim Umar Manik noted the difficulty some fishermen face in getting radio signals, while out at sea. However, he expressed hope that the issue would be solved as part of the up-gradation project.

The government has been generous in its efforts to develop Maldivian media. Assistance for the project to upgrade 'Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu' is a result of agreements to that effect signed by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, during his state visit to Japan.
