Public Service Media (PSM) has launched Dhivehi News Agency (DNA) to coincide with 2nd anniversary.
At a special function held at Senaco Hall today, the news agency was officially launched by Minister of Defence and National Security, Adam Shareef Umar. Addressing the function, Minister Adam Shareef said that establishment of such an institution would enable Maldives to progress in the international arena. He reminded that the biggest responsibility of a news agency would be to portray a complete picture of the Maldivian situation to those abroad.
Addressing the function, Deputy Managing Director of PSM Mohamed Ikram described the establishment of DNA as the biggest achievement for PSM in the past two years. He also announced that the services of DNA would be free of charge for all media outlets in the first three months.
PSM should establish a news agency that would sell local stories to international media, according to article 50 of the Public Service Media Act.
