Indian Ambassador inaugurates pavilion at 'Happy Ramadan 2017'

The Ambassador of India to Maldives Akhilesh Mishra has described Maldives as exemplary, in world tourism. He made the statement at function held to inaugurate the Indian pavilion at 'Happy Ramadan 2017', a trade exhibition organized by Dhivehi Expo.

Describing Maldivian entrepreneurs as prudent despite the country's size, the Ambassador called on Indian entrepreneurs to learn the 'progressive style' Maldivian entrepreneurs have selected. He praised the successes of Maldivian entrepreneurs and government and called on his countrymen to realize and utilize trade opportunities in Maldives.

"We have to learn many things from our Maldivian brothers and sisters. The spirit of entreprenuership, the spirit of managing the logitsics in a very complicated scenario.. you look and understand that Maldives has almost 1200 islands. Managing the logistics of any business is very challenging. But it inspires me to see how our Maldivian entreprenuers, Maldivian brothers and sisters are managing it so efficiently, so simplistic," said the Ambassador.

The morning session of the 'Happy Ramadan 2017' consisted of meetings among traders. Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MNCCI) and representatives from the Federation of Indian Export Organization participated in the meetings. A high power business delegation which boasts 55 representatives from 29 Indian companies, is participating in the exhibition.

The delegation is headed by the Regional Chairman of the Federation of Indian Export Organization Dr. A Sakthival. The delegation would seek means to improve trade and investment opportunities in the fields of infrastructure, textiles, agro, food and electronics.

In President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom's state visit to India in 2016, the president met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, discussions were held on bilateral trade issues and the need for having more people to people contact for increasing trade.
