The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Maldives, James Dauris, has met with the Minister of Economic Development, Mohamed Saeed.
During the meeting, discussions were held to expand trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. The meeting was held at a time when the government of Maldives has shown interest in establishing a Free Trade Agreement with the United Kingdom.
Economic Minister Saeed also met with the Director-General of Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Kazuya Nashida, who is currently undertaking an official visit to the Maldives. During the meeting, Minister Saeed discussed ways in which the Maldives and Japan can further develop trade and economic ties.
