Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. Mohamed Shainee, has said that the United Kingdom has given its full support to the government of Maldives in its efforts to establish and maintain democracy in the country.
Minister Shainee made the statement in a tweet after meeting with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Maldives, James Dauris.
In his tweet, Minister Shainee said that he was pleased that James Dauris assured that UK have no special interest in former president Mohamed Nasheed, and that the UK will support the current administration's efforts to maintain democracy in the Maldives.
Ambassador James Dauris said that the meeting with Minister Shainee was fruitful and highlighted the achievements of the administration in developing the democratic system in the Maldives.
