President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that work on the proposed Saudi investment will continue and would face no delays. The President made this statement while speaking at a function organised by the Progressive Party of Maldives.
The President also noted that the Administration respects the rule of law and expressed his wish to resolve holdovers from previous Administrations at a faster pace.
The President highlighted that discussions on the proposed Saudi investment had been ongoing since previous Administrations — adding that to realise large investments in the Maldives, legislation would be needed in order to promote investments and to secure investors.
President Yameen, in his speech, also highlighted that political differences should not deprive Maldivians from opportunity or the right to live in a peaceful environment.
