The 3 day meeting is being organized by Asian Broadcasting Union (ABU) in partnership with Public Service Media (PSM). Since its launch in 1984, the daily news exchange has been covering the major events of the day, providing a major source of news for its current 32 members.

This year's AVN coordinators meeting is being hosted at the Radio Building of PSM with the Deputy Managing Director of PSM Shaayan Shaheed inaugurating the meeting.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the meeting the Deputy Managing Director of PSM highlighted on the work of PSM as the state media of the nation while also taking a look at the efforts done by the company in advancing the services provided by the media outlet.

"The major challenges of Maldives media industry is the lack of resources we have, lack of skilled experts and the limited technical education available in the Maldives. However through the public service media Act we have introduced one media institute which will be focusing on the education of media industry,” she said.

Speaking at the event Director of ABU News Il Chae highlighted on the importance of sharing the news events in each country with the rest of the members.
