The 1000 rufiyaa bank note of the Maldives has been listed amongst "the world's most beautiful currencies" in 2017.
A national British daily newspaper, The Daily Telegraph, listed 21 different currencies of the world as 'The World's Most Beautiful Currencies' on its website. Among the 21 different currencies, the 1000 rufiyaa bank note makes the list due to the nature and under water creatures featured on it. The note has an under print of spot and striped pattern on the skin of a whale shark on the back while manta rays, a green turtle, corals and a luxury resort is printed on the front.
A currency each from Czech Republic, Mexico, Egypt, France, Namibia, Samoa, Uganda, Bermuda, Australia, Switzerland, Trinidad and Tobago, and New Zealand have also been placed on the list. Similarly, two currencies each from Burma and Kazakhstan have been listed, respectively while three bank notes from Nepal also made the list.
