The World Health Organization (WHO) Representative to the Maldives, Dr. Arvind Mathur has said that Maldives has gained momentum and hailed the development of the country's health sector.
Dr. Arvind Mathur made the statement while speaking at the closing ceremony held to mark the conclusion of the WHO team's survey to determine the implementation of International health regulation capacity in Maldives. The survey was organized by the Ministry and WHO. The WHO's team highlighted the areas in which the country's health sector must be improved after examining 19 areas of the sector.
Speaking in the closing ceremony, Minister of Health Dr. Abdulla Nazim highlighted the importance of developing the air and sea ports to the international health regulation standards. The country needs to properly screen the people and products coming into the country in order to avoid a harmful diseases from spreading, he added.
