Minister of Gender and Family Zenysha Shaheed Zaki has said that further work must be done to identify fields where women workers are few in number and integrate more women to such fields.
Minister Zenysha, while speaking during the function held at Dharubaaruge convention centre to mark International Women’s Day, said that the government has been working on safeguarding women's right and empowering women. President Yameen’s Administration also prioritizes in making women economically independent and provide equal opportunities to women in various fields, she added. She said that the Gender Ministry is currently working on amending the national gender policy.
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity and commemorates the movement for women's rights.
