WHO to Determine the Implementation of Int. Health Regulations

World Health Organization (WHO), in association with the Ministry of Health, has begun a survey to determine the implementation of International Health Regulations in Maldives.

The survey is conducted as part of the effort to determine the standard of health services provided in the country. The survey will also determine the capacity of Maldives in implementing international health regulations. The survey will be conducted by a five member team of WHO.

Speaking to the media, the State Minister of Health Ministry, Hussein Rasheed said that through this survey, they will be able to determine the current standard of Maldivian health sector and what could be done to further improve it.

Speaking at the ceremony held to initiate the survey, Dr. Arvind Mathur, the WHO Representative to the Maldives, said that Maldives has gained much momentum in health sector development during the small period since signing the international health regulations.

Maldives signed and began the implementation of International Health Regulations in 2007.
