Ministry of Tourism has said that over 150,000 tourists visited Maldives in the month of January this calendar year.
Statistics released by Ministry of Tourism states 16,940 more tourists visited Maldives, compared to the same month last year. 108,996 tourists visited the country, in January 2016, according to Tourism Ministry statistics.
The Tourism Ministry statistics also showed an increase in tourist arrivals from most markets to Maldives during January, with over 64,000 tourist arrivals from Europe. The second highest number of tourists arrived from Asian countries, with 50,950 tourist arrivals in January. Meanwhile, Tourist arrivals from African countries were recorded at 877, while 5474 tourists and 3969 tourists visited Maldives from the Americas and the Middle East, respectively.
