Environment Ministry begins Renewable Energy Technology Workshop

Ministry of Environment has begun a workshop to train staff working in powerhouses in the islands on installation and the usage of renewable energy technologies.

The workshop being held in Kulhudhuffushi Island of Haa Dhaalu Atoll is aimed for staff working in powerhouses managed by State Utilities Company, Fenaka Corporation. During the workshop, participants will be given instructions on procuring, installing, supervising and maintaining hybrid renewable energy and diesel engine's mini grids and other such technologies, according to Environment Ministry. The participants will also be informed of ways to install and supervise PV Power Plants.

The workshop is held as part of the “Preparing Outer Islands for Sustainable Energy Development Project” and the government's efforts to provide technical training for staff working at powerhouses. The Ministry further said that 34 participants from different powerhouses in the Haa Dhaalu Atoll are participating in the workshop.

The workshop is facilitated by foreign experts.
