Third Meeting of Maldives-Sri Lanka Joint Commission commences

The Third Session of the Maldives-Sri Lanka Joint Commission commenced in Male' City on Wednesday.

The session began Wednesday morning with a meeting of the senior officials of the Commission. Ahmed Khaleel, Secretary Bilateral, led the Maldivian delegation while the Sri Lankan delegation was headed by Ranjith Uyangoda, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both sides deliberated on several bilateral issues of importance to both countries, including trade and economic cooperation, education and social protection, culture and tourism, fisheries and health cooperation, the Foreign Ministry said. Discussions also ensued on consular and community issues, human resource development and cooperation between the two foreign ministries, it added.

The Ministerial segment of the Third Session of the Maldives - Sri Lanka Joint Commission is scheduled to be held tomorrow, and an Agreed Minutes will be signed during this session.
