China-Maldives relations going through best time in history

Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Wang Fukang has said that the China-Maldives relations are going through their best time in history, which serve the fundamental interests of both countries and are conducive to the regional stability, peace and prosperity.

He made the remarks at the Chinese New Year concert held Tuesday evening at the Olympus Theatre in Male' City. The concert, which celebrated 45 years of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and China as well the Chinese New Year, featured performances by the Chinese National Symphony Orchestra.

“The future development of the China-Maldives relationship will benefit our people,” he said, adding that “the visit by the Chinese National Symphony Orchestra is evidence of the growing bilateral relation between the two countries."

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Youth and Sports, Iruthisham Adam said the tireless efforts of the leaders of China and the Maldives have resulted in remarkable improvement in cultural, diplomatic, bilateral, economic, trade, and people-to-people relations between the two countries. She noted the thriving relations between China and the Maldives, and praised President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom for his continuous efforts to strengthen ties between the two countries.

The Chinese New Year concert was organised by the Chinese Embassy and the National Centre for the Arts (NCA), with assistance from Public Service Media (PSM), Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
