Palestine delegation calls on Foreign Minister

A Palestinian government delegation, led by Ambassador of Palestine to the Maldives, Dr. Anwar Al Agha, on Monday called on Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim.

At the meeting held at the Foreign Ministry this afternoon, Minister Asim welcomed the delegation to the Maldives and discussed ways to further enhance and strengthen the close brotherly relations between the Maldives and Palestine.

Minister Asim noted that the visit will pave the way for the first meeting of the Maldives Palestine Intergovernmental Joint Committee.

The Minister also reiterated that the people and the Government of Maldives will continue to stand by the people of Palestine and support the Palestine cause.

The Ambassador and the delegation conveyed the appreciation of the Government and the people of Palestine for the continued support from the Government and people of the Maldives. They noted that the Palestine International Cooperation Agency (PICA) has been set up as a way of showing appreciation to the friends of Palestine through assistance and cooperation programmes.

They expressed their commitment to working closely with the concerned authorities of Maldives to come up with a programme of cooperation between the two countries and extend assistance in different fields.

The Palestine delegation is on a 4-day visit to the Maldives and will be meeting with senior government officials of the Maldives to draw up a programme of cooperation between the two countries in different fields, according to the Foreign Ministry.

The delegation includes Director General of the PICA, Imad Zuhairi and senior officials from different Ministries of Palestine.
