Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) has signed an agreement with SATS Limited., through its wholly-owned subsidiary SATS Airport Services Pte Ltd (Singapore), and NIIT Technologies Ltd (India) to provide COSYS solutions for automated cargo handling at Velana International Airport (VIA).
“COSYS, designed by SATS and implemented by NIIT Technologies Ltd, is a fully automated system which enables faster and more efficient handling of cargo. The application is able to integrate with airlines and customs systems to cater to the requirements of airlines and their customers,” MACL said in a statement.
COSYS will be able to meet government stakeholders’ mandatory requirements as well as enable e-airway bill handling, the company said, adding that the system will allow agents and freight forwarders to track cargo real-time.
COSYS covers air cargo operations from export-import to electronic data interchange (EDI) for international as well as domestic air services and the application is deployed across 16 airports in Asia and South America, according to MACL.
