Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohamed Asim on Friday visited the Embassy of Maldives in Malaysia.
During his interaction with the staff of the Embassy, the Minister noted with appreciation the work carried out by the Embassy in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. Minister further noted that the easing ofvisa requirements for Maldivian in Malaysia clearly demonstrates the cordial relations between the two countries. Minister also inquired about the challenges faced by the staff in undertaking their daily functions and ways to improve the institutional capacity of the mission. He further commended the efficient manner in which the staff at the Malaysian Embassy delivered their service to the Maldivian Community and expressed appreciation to the various initiatives planned by the Embassy to strengthen the relationship between the Maldivian community and the Embassy.
Duringthe visit to the Embassy, Minister Asim also signed the visitors’ book.
Minister Asim is in Malaysia on an official visit to attend the OIC Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers on the Situation of Rohingya Muslim Minority in Myanmar, which was held on 19th January 2017.
