Project to convert ECC into 100-bed hospital to begin this month

The project to convert the Equatorial Convention Centre (ECC) in Addu City into a 100-bed tertiary hospital will begin this month, the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has said. According to the Ministry, it is now vacating the building before handing it over to the contractor.

Alia Construction (Pvt) Ltd. is the contractor of the MVR161 million project, which is financed by the Saudi Fund for Development and the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID).

ECC, located in Hithadhoo Island of Addu City, was built especially for the 17th SAARC Summit which was held in November 2011 in Addu City and Fuvahmulah City.
