The newly established UroRenal and Fertility Centre at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has commenced operations.

Despite the commencement of services under the supervision of specialised doctors, the centre will be officially opened next week, the state-run hospital said.

Director at the centre Dr. Ibrahim Shiham said over 300 patients booked appointments since Thursday.

He said   appointments have been fully booked till December 8, and that a total of 40 patients will be consulted per day.

The centre will be further expanded with the introduction of new services and procedures, Dr. Shiham said.

The centre was established under an agreement with India-based NU Hospitals.

The Government spent over MVR2.5 million for the project, while NU hospitals contributed MVR6 million.
