President Yameen confers Nat’l Award for Special Achievement

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has presented the National Award for Special Achievement. The awards were conferred at the official Republic Day function held on Thursday evening at Dharubaaruge.

The twenty honourees of this year’s National Award for Special Achievement received medals and certificates.

Honorees who were conferred the medal for achieving the highest academic qualification in the Maldives National Qualifications Framework were Dr. Mohamed Adil and Dr. Amzath Ahmed.

The fifteen honourees who achieved the highest in a higher academic course or training course were:

1. Mr. Mohamed Shahid Haleem

2. Ms. Aishath Azfa

3. Ms. Siruhaanaa Idrees

4. Ms. Aishath Arshee Khaleel

5. Mr. Anwar Ibrahim

6. Mr. Abdul Matheen Abdul Sattar

7. Uz. Shujau Usman

8. Uz. Su-ood Mohamed fulhu

9. Mr. Hussain Waheed

10. Ms. Mariyam Moonisa Hussain

11. Uz. Shukurullah Shakeel

12. Mr. Hamad Ahmed

13. Ms. Shazmeena Shakir

14. Ms. Aminath Shafaanaaz

and

15. Ms. Aminath Shafeeq

The President’s Medal in the category of innovation and creativity or outstanding performance in academic research was conferred to:

Mr. Ibrahim Nasreen

The honourees for the performance of a skill or innovation, to a standard recognised by the Government were:

1. Ms. Roza Ibrahim

and

2. Ms. Rasheeda Moosa

At the function held this evening, President Yameen conferred the President’s Medal to six honourees for committing the Quran to memory. They were:

1. Al-Hafizah Bassaama Sulaiman

2. Al-Hafiz Sultan Mohamed Latheef

3. Al-Hafizah Himna Mohamed Iyash

4. Al-Hafizah Mariyam Hulma Mashkoor

5. Al-Hafizah Aalaa Azmath Jameel

and

6. Al-Hafiz Ahmed Shujaau Shareef

Honourees who were conferred the President’s Medal for achieving first place in the world top ten in the 2015 IGCSE and GCE O’level examinations were:

1. Fathimath Mavy Solih – English as a Second Language (Aminiya School)

2. Aminath Shuaau Mohamed – English as a Second Language (Aminiya School)

3. Ahmed Basil Shiyaam – Mathematics (Majeedhiyya School)

4. Mariyam Insha Ziyad – Travel and Tourism (Iskandhar School)

and

5. Mariyam Azha Ibrahim – Economics and Chemistry (Iskandhar School)

Honourees who were conferred the President’s Medal for achieving first place in the world top ten in the 2016 A’level examinations were:

1. Ahmed Misbah – Accounting (Center for Higher Secondary Education)

2. Shaifa Abdul Shakoor – Accounting (Center for Higher Secondary Education)

3. Haleemath Layaan Abdulla –Accounting (Madhrasathul Ifthithaah)

4. Aishath Shahudha – Business Studies (Baa Atoll Education Center)

5. Fathimath Suma Ashraf – Accounting (Ahmadiyya International School)

and

6. Zaif Hassan Fazal – Business Studies (Center for Higher Secondary Education)

In his speech, President Yameen extended his congratulations and warm wishes to all honourees of this year’s National Award for Special Achievement.
